Welsh European Tour star Rhys Davies took the three “Golf Skills Cymru” Putting challenges on the Golf Development Wales stand at the Wales Open today – and set the mark for the week by totalling an impressive 68 points across the three games.

He put 5 out of 6 putts in on the “Around the Clock” challenge, then moved onto the “In the Zone” challenge where he scored a very impressive 42 points. Moving on to the final putting challenge, “Step Back”, Rhys showed the impressive watching crowd why he is consistently ranked amongst the European Tour’s top 20 putters, holing all of his six putts for an impressive 21 point maximum. His total of 68 points (out of a possible 87) sets the mark for visitors to the stand over the next 4 days of the Wales Open to beat. Anyone managing to do so will win a certificate, as well as seeing their name at the top of the online leaderboard, which is updated dynamically after each person completes the challenges.

As well as providing an exciting challenge for golfers, who can measure their abilities at various golfing skills disciplines against other players from across Wales, the 12 featured challenges are also great practice drills for significantly improving your golf scores.
